"Hayride"

Autumn was definitely in the air as the temperatures turned cool while folks enjoyed the local Fall Festival.  ATF agent Ezra Standish and his date enjoyed mugs of hot apple cider as they mingled through the crowds.

"Let's go on a hay ride?" suggested his date.

"Hay ride?" repeated Ezra who could only think of how messy and uncomfortable the ride could be.

"Yea, a hay ride," she replied as she hooked an arm through his and began leading him in that direction.  "It'll be fun . . . just wait and see. . ."

"Alright," replied the ATF undercover agent who was still leery about the hayride but was willing to give it a try.

A short time later Ezra and his date were settling themselves among the bundles of hay to enjoy the ride.  "You're sure I can't change you're mind?" asked Ezra as he shifted uncomfortable on the hay.  It seemed no matter how he sat, hay was poking him in his posterior.

She gazed up at him and smiled reassuringly.  "I'm sure," she replied softly before settling a blanket across their legs.  She then snuggled close to him, her soft curves pressed seductively to his side.

It was at that point Ezra realized maybe a hayride wouldn't be as bad as he thought.  He shifted an arm around her shoulders as he held her close while their ride began.  Over the next couple minutes they were silent, enjoying the scenic night as well as the warmth of each other.

She snuggled closer to him and looked up into his emerald eyes.  Ezra gently caressed her cheek, his warm breath fanned across her lips before his mouth covered hers in a deep, slow kiss.

She murmured her approval as she slipped a hand into his chestnut locks while the kiss deepened.  Everything else seemed to melt away and the only people who existed were her and Ezra and their little cocoon among the hay.

Unexpectedly, the wagon hit a pothole in the road jostling the passengers.  The sudden movement broke the mood as the kiss ended.

"Now isn't this fun?" she asked breathlessly as she smiled softly.

"Indeed," replied Ezra.  "It is quite enjoyable."
